Technology that makes you smile
Many new and improved tools are available today for the detection and treatment of dental disease and to make your visits more comfortable. Dr. Jim, Dr. Kelly, and their team have been in the front of the pack, researching what is safe and effective for use in their practice, always looking for those tools that will make your visits more comfortable, more beneficial, and more enjoyable.
A Cavity Detecting Laser
The use of fluorides has made teeth stronger and more resistant to decay. But now when decay starts in the small crevices in the biting surfaces of teeth, detection has become more challenging with the old dental pick and eye balls.
The KAVO Diagnodent uses laser fluorescence to find those hidden cavities which may otherwise go undetected until they are much larger. Early detection means earlier more conservative treatment, which could mean less need for anesthetics- yeah!
Cariscreen Bacterial Testing
Cariscreen is a bacterial test that can be done right in our office at Generations Dental with nearly immediate results. A swab sample across your lower front teeth helps access the amount of acid loving cavity forming bacteria that live in your mouth.
Testing performed at your initial and subsequent visits can aid in getting and keeping you and your family cavity free, and it’s included in your visit. Coupled with the Carifree cavity prevention product line it gives you another option for cavity defense not offered at other offices. That’s just another reason to keep smiling.
Oral DNA Saliva Testing
Diagnostics in medicine are evolving away from blood samples to saliva samples, as these technologies keep improving. So why not have saliva testing for oral conditions? Oral DNA has a variety of tests specific for periodontal/gum disease and HPV infection.
When your history shows greater risk for gum disease, earlier detection of your genetic makeup and which bacteria are at work, can help in developing a specific plan just for you. Also your HPV status can be accessed, which is a known risk for increased oral cancer.
This is another way that you and the doctors at Generations Dental can keep your smile happy and healthy.
Safest X-rays Around
Many dental offices are going digital. And why not, digital X-ray systems can reduce radiation by up to 90%. But did you know Dr. Jim was one of the first in the area to utilize this in 1998. Let Dr. Jim, Dr. Kelly, and their staff use their knowledge and experience with this “new” technology for you. We’ll safely evaluate your mouth for hidden disease, and treat it while it’s small, and more importantly before it hurts.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Have you ever had a doctor try to explain something technical that you can’t see? It can be very frustrating. Take a look at your teeth on TV with an intraoral camera. It’s so much easier to see and understand what’s being stated. The doctors can give you a tour tooth by tooth, highlighting your area of complaint, or areas of concern that they’ve discovered. Or better yet show off your healthy smile. Then you and Dr. Jim or Dr. Kelly can make any needed decisions together.
Let’s make you more comfortable
Going to the dentist can cause anxiety. Many people postpone or avoid dental visits all together because of their fears, thus missing the opportunity for a healthy smile. At generations Dental we want to change that. We are willing to go the extra mile to make you comfortable. Our caring doctors and staff are trained to help ease your dental fears.
Also listed below are some additional techniques that can make improving your smile seem much faster, easier, and pain free.
It’s like magic – “The Wand”
If that cavity is a little bigger and you do need to be “numbed”, let our doctors take the pain away with the Wand. This computerized delivery system makes freezing your mouth easier than ever. We’ve used this technology for at least 15 years to rave reviews. Nothing is better than having a patient say “when am I getting the shot” and we’ve already finished.
TV/Video glasses
Tired of counting the dots on the ceiling during your dental appointments? Feel like just tuning out? Try Generations Dental’s TV glasses and put your mind somewhere else. We’ve had them in service for more than a dozen years, and some people won’t have work done without them. You can tune into cable TV and relax while the doctors perfect your smile.
Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and Oral Sedatives
If you find dentistry gets you a little anxious, we can relax you further through various combinations of medications. Nitrous oxide gas helps take the edge off, relaxing you without requiring a need for an escort. Oral sedatives can be used separately and in combination with nitrous oxide and give a more profound level of relaxation but do require an escort.
The interesting thing we’ve found is once an individual feels listened to, feels right about their treatment choices, and gains trust in their dentist, usually just a calming, caring, informative approach is often all that is needed to get the job done.
At Generations Dental we want you to have a comfortable, care free experience.
